Camera's
Good camera work is essential for a successful trailer. It is vital for a different use of movements , shots and equipment to be used. This task enables us to practice different camera techniques and use four important equipment( Steadicam, Shoulder Rig, Tracking dolly and Tripod) as well as practice it was also done to familiarise ourselves with our skills we already had . With doing this task it also helped us gain more knowledge on the camera and how it works especially shots and angles . With this practice it can ensure us to get a good grade in terms of our camera skills for our trailer.

Canon 600D
ISO
Measures the sensitivity of the image sensor from light . The lower the ISO number the less sensitive your camera is to light . When the ISO number is higher the sensitivity will increase , they are usually done in the dark to gain faster shutter speeds. however that brings along the problem with the grain being more finer
Aperture
The aperture is the opening of the camera lense diahraghm which is where the light passes through . It is usally put in numbers eg . f/1.8. Therefore the lower the number the more diahraghm can pick up the light because they have substitute a larger aperture and the higher the number the less the diahraghm picks up light subsistuting a lower aperture .
Shutter Speed
Shutter speed is the amount of time is open to expose light to the camera sensor. It is measured in fractions of a second . It can help freeze an action . A high shutter speed the sharper the picture . A slow shutter speed it will create a more blured picture . To summarize it is the amount of time a camera can record an image for.
EXPOSURE TRIANGLE
This diagram shows the ideal balance of exposure the camera can produced and should ideally use

Establishing shot- An establishing shot is used to set the location
and shots this is a popular shot used which is while w will be using this for familiarity Close up - This is done to show explicit detail and express the nvc of the character both movies show distress emotions over the shoulder shot - used to show characters emotion from a reaction of witnessing something panning- this was done to see a faced paced of someone running long shot - this shot shows full body language and movement CLOSE UP INSPIRATIONTEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACREThis scene was done from Tobe Hooper Texas Chainsaw Massacre in 1974 where the antagonist leather face is grabbing a female through the front porch to the house. This inspired our antagonist the surgeon grabbing the young girl .This is an iconic action in horror movies especially from the back with them being unaware. This is done through a long shot
SCREAMClose up of object- The significant object of the movie was a telephone therefore displaying a close up shot was relevant as it was a key symbol therefore this inspired us to definitely use a close up of our key object which was the needle and medicine capsule
Steadicam- A Steadicam was used to follow the protagonist movement this was done when we anticipated something was going to happen creating suspense . We decided to use a Steadicam when the antagonist was trying to escape and felt she was being followed Point of view of girl being hit car- This shot enabled us t put ourselves in the character perspective which makes the audiences emotions stronger as well POINT OF VIEW INSPIRATION |
two shot- this is used to frame two people in view sometimes to emphasis their relationship
zooming- this is done to emphasis the emotions especially when their facial expressions are changing or something is gradually getting intense wide-angle- this was to show an specific area in this case a deadly event low angle - this is done to make the subject look more powerful and superior TWO SHOT INSPIRATIONNIGHTMARE ON ELM STREETThis running inspiration came from Wes Craven A Nightmare On Elm Street . From 1984 where the protagonist Nancy is running from Freddy . it starts of with a Steadicam following her movements .This inspired us to do this from the young girl trying to escape the surgeon because it conveys the same emotions
SAWLong shot of corridor- A corridor is a typical locations of a horror movie as it creates a spooky atmosphere and gives the fear of the unknown so we used a long shot of the girl walking into a dark corridor just like the male in this trailer
Panning shot of newspapers being scattered around the wall - This scene inspired our stalking images shot as it shows how passionate the antagonist was to get revenge . This is reflected through the images High and Low angles- Characters superiority and inferiority is really important in this movie as well as our movie to as we need to clearly convey which characters plays what therefore using low and high angles to do this is important in making it clear LONG SHOT INSPIRATION |
Here is a list of camera equipment we used to shoot our film , before all of this we practiced refining our skills on using these to allow us to be comfortable. below are the equipment presented and how they benefit us .
SHOULDER RIG
DOLLY
STEDICAM
TRIPOD
TRACKING
GORILLA POD
Diary session
In this section I showed video evidence of me performing different camera angles , camera movements and shots and developing
my skill in it. I learnt how to practice different ways to use the camera
and how to better it for my trailer. The three videos below show this.
my skill in it. I learnt how to practice different ways to use the camera
and how to better it for my trailer. The three videos below show this.
#1 Camera Movements
This video demonstrated me using different equipment to make different camera movements this task was really important as I needed to make sure I know how to work the equipment to make sure these shots worked well and to ensure i was comfortable with using them .I used the Cannon 7D camera to display this

STEADICAM
HANDHELD

#2 Camera Angles
This session I explored different potential camera angles that I would like to use .This is essential as I had a variety to choose from therefore practising different ones and seeing the ones that work best for my trailer was important and useful .I used the Cannon 7D camera to display this

HIGH ANGLE
ESTABLISHING SHOT

#3 Camera Shots
In this section I practised various different shots and shots I want to include in my actual trailer. I used the Cannon 7D camera to display this and listed below are the various shots I explored .I found this task important as I could explore different emotions on the face of a character or expressions which I feel is relevant in horror movies

EVALUATION
This task I felt was very beneficial in helping me refine my knowledge and skills on using the camera and its different components. In this task I was able to have the opportunity to see which shots and angles will be appropiate in my final product . Also how to use the
equipment effeciently.
